About
Part two- storey, part single-storey side and rear extensions to a large family home were designed to blend with the original house and its plot, utilising the angled boundary line.
The design has provided extra space for a growing family, with improved connections to the garden. Accessibility throughout the house and to the external areas was maintained by forming an internal ramp between existing and new, whilst the accommodation was enhanced at first floor with the creation of a semi-private master suite; improving daylight and access with a galleried corridor.
Energy-efficient improvements include rainwater recycling in the form of a rainwater harvesting tank and a draught lobby, which was formed at the main entrance.
Alterations to the original rear façade greatly improved what was a tired aspect to the house, whilst still retaining the character of this countryside property. Care was taken throughout the design and construction stages to ensure that the original proportions and aesthetics were used to inform the new design.
